46,234 visitors at Agrothessaly 98% increase in the number of trade visitors from all over Greece and 7 markets abroad

The 13th Agrothessaly Pan-Hellenic Fair for Agriculture and Livestock was concluded on 12 March in Larissa (Indoor Market of Neapoli), with an increased number of visitors and a 98% increase in the number of trade visitors. The total number of visitors came to 46,234, indicating the major dynamism of Agrothessaly, which was postponed for a few days due to the tragic railway accident at Tempi. Nonetheless, both exhibitors at and visitors to AgroThessaly still made it to the major celebration of the primary sector in Larissa, which attracted leaders of the agriculture and livestock sector. Foreign trade visitors came from Spain, Austria, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, and North Macedonia. The 13th AgroThessaly, which is a powerful exhibition partnership between TIF-HELEXPO and the Municipality of Larissa, consisted of 766 exhibitors (269 direct exhibitors and 497 indirect exhibitors) from 34 countries, in a 25,000 sq.m. exhibition space.

The President of TIF-Helexpo, Mr Tasos Tzikas, stressed that AgroThessaly has become “a reference point for the agriculture and livestock sector, of supra-local importance and gravity. The priority for TIF-HELEXPO and the Municipality of Larissa, with which we have developed an excellent partnership, is to further enhance AgroThessaly in order for it to develop into an exhibition brand with ever increasing appeal. Our partnership with the Municipality of Larissa is a model for how we could create major exhibition projects in other Greek cities”.

The Mayor of Larissa, Mr Apostolos Kalogiannis, underlined that “AgroThessaly, the 13th Pan-Hellenic Fair for Agriculture and Livestock, was a major success. The exhibition returned dynamically to Larissa, following the pandemic and the restrictions, with the participation of a large number of exhibitors and visitors. The data from this year’s event confirm that the Municipality was correct in moving forward with its strategic partnership with TIF-HELEXPO, a high-level entity with exceptional know-how and a wealth of experience in major exhibition events. The large number of exhibitors, and the significant number of international trade visitors and delegations from the Balkans, highlight the event’s present and future prospects. In fact, Larissa was and remains the centre of Greece’s primary sector, and this became very clearly evident during the four-day exhibition, with positive results for our local economy. I would once again like to thank the management and executives of TIF-HELEXPO for the excellent partnership, and all the exhibitors, through the agencies for the traders and manufacturers of agricultural machinery (SEAM, the Machinery Importers’ - Representatives’ Association, and EKAGEM, the Association of Manufacturers of Agricultural Machinery), for their trust, as well as the thousands of visitors to AgroThessaly”.

TIF-HELEXPO CEO, Dr Kyriakos Pozrikidis, noted that “AgroThessaly is evolving into a leading exhibition event for the agricultural sector, which is substantial as regards informing farmers and keeping them up to date. In that framework, side events were organised by primary sector agencies (ELGO DIMITRA), as well as educational institutions — most importantly, the University of Thessaly — which attracted the interest of sector professionals and the general public, both from the local and the national market”.

The Deputy Mayor for the Environment of the Municipality of Larissa, Mr Panagiotis Ntais, underlined that “the data from AgroThessaly outline the exhibition’s success and highlight the important role that Local Government can play in local development. The wealth of side events and discussions on individual primary sector issues and the informative events that preceded the event in the seats of the regional municipalities of the Regional Unit of Larissa, were also an important and exceptionally interesting part of the exhibition. In the framework of the exhibition, people who are active in the primary sector in the broader region had the opportunity to receive in-depth updates from experts on a number of issues, which is yet another success of the event”.
